You as a Customer play a very important role in the protection our global Fisheries.
We are proud to be one of only 75 Fish & Chip shops in the UK to be MSC certified.
When buying your Fish and Chips from us you can be sure that the Fish that you eat is sustainable . if you buy MSC certified fish you are contributing to the protection of global fish stocks and help to ensure “ Fish for Tomorrow”.
“From ocean to plate” your fish can be traced back to where it was caught.
These fisheries ensure that fish are caught at levels that allow fish populations and the ecosystems on which they depend to remain healthy and productive for the future.
MSC certification means that you can be sure that your delicious fish is sustainable and sourced from a certified fishery.

Congratulations to our Barnard Castle team who were recently shortlisted as one of the Top 60 listings for the Independent Takeaway Fish and Chip shop of the Year Award!
“The Independent Takeaway Fish and Chip Shop of the Year Awards is one of the highest honors a Fish and Chip business can receive” – Marcus Coleman, CEO, Seafish.
These awards are considered somewhat the ‘Oscars’ of the Fish and Chip Industry. We will now be judged as finalists after making the top 60 and have a shot a claim the title of “Best Fish and Chip Shop in the UK 2017”.
To make it to this stage is a huge achievement in itself. We have already had to be judged by an array of industry experts on a wide range of criteria including Sustainability, Tractability, Customer experience and both Staff training and development.
The next stage of the competition is to whittle down the finalists to just 20 Fish and Chip Shops around the UK these will be crowned with regional titles. This means that over the next few weeks we will be subject to a team of Mystery Shoppers and various assessments. If we make it to the final 20 the Winner will be crowned in January 2017 after a grueling 7 month judging period.
The awards celebrate traditional Great British Fish and Chips, through 13 different categories showcasing Talent, Quality and Choice offered by British Fish and Chip shops.
We hope to see our Team excel at Barnard Castle and make it through to the next stage!
